Tommies Add High-Compete Forward Rayne Constantine
The St. Thomas University Tommies are proud to welcome Rayne Constantine as the newest addition to the 2026-27 women’s hockey program.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Constantine brings strength, determination, and a high-compete style to the Tommies’ forward group as a right winger. She developed her game with the Calgary Fire U18 AAA Black, where she demonstrated a relentless work ethic, a team first mindset, and the ability to contribute consistently at both ends of the ice.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to come to St. Thomas,” she said. “I’ll bring a strong work ethic, a high level of competitiveness, and a commitment to improving every day. I want to be a reliable teammate and help maintain a positive environment on and off the ice.”
Drawn to the Maritimes by the close-knit atmosphere at STU, Constantine said the program’s welcoming culture made her decision an easy one.
“During my campus tour, everything just felt right,” she said. “The team was so welcoming, and I knew I wanted a smaller school where I could be part of a true community. I also have family in New Brunswick, so being in the Maritimes was something I really hoped for. My connection with the coaching staff and players made St. Thomas feel like home.”
Off the ice, Constantine plans to pursue Criminology and Psychology as part of a pre-law undergraduate pathway. She also stays active year-round by competing in box lacrosse, a sport that has helped enhance her athleticism and competitive edge.
She spoke highly of the Tommies program and coaching staff. “The team is incredibly hardworking, friendly, and welcoming, and it’s clear how passionate everyone is about hockey and supporting one another. Coach is very approachable and knowledgeable, and you can see the commitment put into developing each player. I am beyond excited to become a Tommie!”
Coach Murphy added, “Rayne is a fast forward with size that finds ways to impact every game she is in. She plays a 200 foot game and will fit into our teams aggressive forechecking style of play. During her interviews and visit she showed herself to be a hard working person of great character who fit in well in new surroundings. We see her being a great addition to our forward group moving forward.”
