Tommies Add Winnipeg Forward Katie Anhalt for 2026-27
Fredericton, NB - The St. Thomas University women’s hockey program is excited to announce the commitment of Katie Anhalt for the 2026-27 season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native joins the Tommies after spending the past two seasons at Mount Allison University, where she competed in U SPORTS.
Prior to her time at Mount Allison, Anhalt played for Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg, establishing herself as a skilled and determined forward. A left wing with a strong offensive presence and relentless work ethic, she now brings valuable experience, to a Tommies squad looking to build toward sustained success in the AUS.
Anhalt says her decision to commit to STU was shaped by both the university’s welcoming environment and the strong sense of community she felt throughout the recruitment process.
“I’ve really enjoyed being on the East Coast, and St. Thomas felt like a natural fit,” said Anhalt. “It’s a very welcoming environment with a strong sense of community, and I saw it as a place where I could thrive both academically and athletically.”
Set to study Criminology and Economics, Anhalt is eager to continue her development in the classroom while pursuing her goals on the ice.
She believes her competitive drive and commitment to the team will allow her to make an immediate impact.
“I will bring a strong work ethic, a competitive mindset, and a team-first attitude every day,” she said. “I’m committed to contributing to a winning culture while continuing to grow as both a player and a person.”
Head coach Peter Murphy believes Anhalt’s experience and offensive upside will make her a valuable addition to the program.
“Coming off an injury from last season, she is looking for an opportunity to get her game back up to her previous levels,” said Murphy. “Katie is a player who has offensive upside and can use her size to influence the play in key areas of the ice. She has a good shot and will look to get into better scoring positions to utilize it to full effect. Katie is a hard worker and we know she can fit into our playing style and team culture. We look forward to having her join us in the fall and add to our depth at forward.”
Off the ice, Anhalt enjoys playing softball, spending time with family and friends at the lake, and making the most of her summers through travel, concerts, and music festivals.
As she prepares for this next chapter, Anhalt is excited to join the Tommies and embrace the program’s culture.
“I’m looking forward to being part of a competitive and supportive culture both on and off the ice,” she added. “Everyone was very kind and welcoming, and that reflects the entire community that I’m excited to be a part of.”
With two years of U SPORTS experience already under her belt, Anhalt brings great potential to the Tommies lineup as the program prepares for the 2026-27 AUS season.
