B.C. Forward Kailey Wrigglesworth Commits to STU Tommies Women’s Hockey
FREDERICTON, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies are proud to welcome Kailey Wrigglesworth as the newest addition to the women’s hockey program for the upcoming season.
Hailing from Penticton, British Columbia, Wrigglesworth brings talent and versatility to the Tommies forward group, with experience playing both right wing and center. She developed her game with the Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 Prep Team, where she was known for her speed, skill, and relentless work ethic.
“I’m so excited for the opportunity to come to St. Thomas,” said Wrigglesworth. “I’ll bring a dedicated work ethic with hopes of getting better each day, as well as a positive attitude to contribute to the thriving Tommies culture.”
Drawn to the East Coast by the close-knit atmosphere of STU, Wrigglesworth said the university’s welcoming environment and strong team culture made her decision easy.
“I chose St. Thomas University for the smaller school that allows for a close community, as well as for the team and coaches I was introduced to who welcomed me in,” she said. “Coach Murphy made me feel welcome right from the start and assured me on the thriving team culture and traditions, which made me comfortable right away. Moving all the way across Canada can be difficult, but because of the team and Coach Murphy, it will be much easier.”
Off the ice, Wrigglesworth plans to pursue a double major in Psychology and Criminology, with aspirations of working in the law field. She's also passionate about giving back and staying active—frequently involved in church activities and enjoying golf, skiing, wake surfing, and the outdoors.
Head Coach Peter Murphy is thrilled to welcome Wrigglesworth to the Green and Gold. “Kailey is a physical player who uses her size well in the offensive zone to win pucks and create space for teammates. She is a strong skater who uses her size well and will add to our depth up the middle which is so important to team success. Above all else, Kailey has proven herself to be an incredible person, impacting whatever community in which she resides. We know she will be a great impact to our program.” said Murphy.
Kailey becomes the fourth recruit for the Tommies for the 2025-26 AUS season, joining Ava Beaton (NS) Carys Cross (SK), and Grace McGunigal (AB). The Tommies look forward to welcoming Kailey to Fredericton.
