Speed and Hockey IQ: Emma Deleurme Joins Tommies Women’s Hockey
The St. Thomas University Tommies are proud to announce the addition of Emma Deleurme to the women’s hockey program ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A native of Kelowna, British Columbia, Deleurme joins the Tommies as a left winger following her time with the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Female Prep Green program. Known for her speed, relentless energy, and high hockey IQ, she brings a competitive edge and dynamic presence to the Tommies’ forward group.
“I will consistently bring my strong work ethic, energy, speed and positive attitude. I love to play with pace and get on the forecheck. I am a good playmaker and I pride myself in my hockey I."
Deleurme said choosing St. Thomas University was an easy decision after experiencing the program and campus culture firsthand.
“I chose St. Thomas because I loved its community feel and sense of belonging. I felt welcomed by every member of the team, coaching staff and academic advisors the minute I stepped on campus. I was attracted not only to the excellent hockey program and beautiful campus but also the impressive academic record the school holds. It was an easy decision for me, and I am super excited to call myself a Tommie."
Off the ice, Deleurme plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Social Entrepreneurship. She enjoys spending time outdoors and stays active through golfing, snowboarding, surfing, and time on the lake.
She also spoke highly of Head Coach Peter Murphy and the culture he has established within the program.
“Coach Murphy isn’t only a great coach, he's also a great person." Said Deleurme. "It’s easy to see that he truly cares about his players and is always striving to build a community. He has done an amazing job building the hockey program into what it has become. I can't wait to spend my next 5 years playing for St. Thomas.”
Deleurme is one of the newest recruits set to join the Tommies for the 2026–27 AUS season, as the program continues to build toward long-term success.
Head Coach Peter Murphy expressed his excitement about the addition: “We look forward to have Emma join us in the fall. She is a small speedy forward that demonstrates a high hockey IQ, fearless attitude and willingness to go to tough areas to make plays happen. I was impressed with her play in the D zone as that is not something you always see at that age. Emma’s character was evident in her visit and interviews. She fit in very well with our current players and will be a great member of the Green and Gold."
We will see Emma lace up with the Green in Gold September of 2026!
