Seventeen and One: Tommies Chase the Banner at ACAA Championship
Fredericton, NB - The St. Thomas Tommies women’s basketball team enters the 2026 ACAA Championship with the best record in the league after one of the most dominant regular seasons in recent program history. With a remarkable 17–1 record, STU finished with 34 points, 8 points ahead of second-place Mount Saint Vincent University, asserting themselves as the clear frontrunner heading into March 6–8 in Halifax.
Under the steady leadership of head coach Fred Connors, the Tommies have built their identity on discipline, pace, and precision. Focused on defence but powering the attack.
Offensively, they’ve been electric—boasting the highest three-point percentage in the league.
Sharpshooter Paige LeBlanc has been lethal from beyond the arc, leading the conference in three-point percentage.
Meanwhile, Claudia Steeves sits third in steals in the conference.
At the center of that success is Charlie Connors, who continues to elevate her game. Averaging 14.5 points per contest — third best in the conference. Connors has also been a force on the glass, ranking fourth in rebounds. Her ability to impact both ends of the floor makes her one of the most complete players in the ACAA.
With additional firepower from Katie Vidito and Alyssa Jeffrey, both veterans, this Tommies squad isn’t built around one star—it's balanced and cohesive.
This marks one of the strongest regular-season performances for STU in recent memory. But for this group, the job isn’t finished.
After falling short last year, the Tommies head to Halifax with unfinished business. The ACAA Championship, hosted by MSVU, presents an opportunity not just to win, but to rewrite the narrative.
The banner is within reach.
