Homegrown Talent Addy Everett-Vail Joins STU Women’s Basketball
The St. Thomas University Tommies are excited to welcome Addy Everett-Vail as the newest member of the women’s basketball program for the 2026-2027 season.
Hailing from Charters Settlement, New Brunswick, Everett-Vail joins the Tommies as a strong and physical post player known for her defense, work ethic, and positive presence on the court.
She played her highschool basketball at Fredericton High and has been playing basketball since grade two.
“I’m really excited to bring a positive attitude, hard work, and high-energy defense to the Tommies,” she said. “Basketball has been such a big part of my life, and I can’t wait to compete and grow with this team.”
Her decision to commit to STU was driven by a combination of academics and the culture STU womens basketball has built. “I chose STU because of the strong arts and education programs, which perfectly align with my academic goals,” she explained. “St. Thomas is also known for its basketball program, and I couldn’t be more excited to join — plus my favourite colour is green, so it feels like the perfect fit.”
Off the court, Everett-Vail plans to pursue a degree in English Literature, with the long-term goal of earning a teaching degree. She aspires to become an elementary school teacher and basketball coach, hoping to promote youth sport in her community.
Her commitment to leadership is evident through her extensive extracurricular involvement. She participates in her school’s hunger program, Kat’s Kitchen, and is a member of the Positive Action Committee, where she helps welcome new students and foster a supportive school environment. She also assists in coaching a middle school Tier 2 boys basketball team, sharing her love of the game and helping younger players develop their skills.
Speaking about the Tommies program, Everett-Vail highlighted the culture and style of play that stood out to her most.
“The teamwork and defensive intensity really stuck out to me,” she said. “The team culture is phenomenal, and everyone has been incredibly welcoming. Coach Connors has been very supportive and helpful throughout this process — he knows the game extremely well, and I’m really looking forward to learning from his guidance and competitiveness.”
Staying close to home while pursuing her goals has made this opportunity even more meaningful.
“I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” she shared. “Being able to stay close to home while continuing my academic journey and playing the sport I love means a lot to me.”
Coach Connors added, "The coaching staff is really excited to have addy join our program. Losing her senior year to an injury is hard, but her character and love for the game has kept her focused on her teammates this year and rehab to get back on the court in the future. We are looking forward to having her size come into the program. I feel she can be a very good defender across all positions and develop into a strong two way player as she rehabs and develops her skills."
The Tommies are excited to welcome Addy Everett-Vail to the program and look forward to the energy, dedication, and passion she will bring to the court and campus community.
