Tommies Add Veteran Guard Norah Quinlan for 2024-25 Season
Fredericton, NB — The St. Thomas University Tommies women’s basketball program is thrilled to announce the addition of Norah Quinlan, a shooting guard from St. John’s, Newfoundland, who will join the team for the 2024-25 ACAA season.
Quinlan is transferring from the University of King’s College, where she competed for the past four years. A graduate of Holy Heart High School and NKD Basketball Club, Quinlan brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Tommies as she enters her fifth and final year of eligibility.
“As a transfer student going into my fifth year in the ACAA, I bring a lot of experience to the team,” Quinlan said. “Having played in the league for such a long time, as well as competing at Nationals in 2024, I hope to contribute a mature and steady presence to the program.”
Her decision to attend St. Thomas University was influenced by both academics and athletics.
“I chose STU because of its 11-month Bachelor of Education program and the opportunity to play my final year of eligibility with the Tommies. It’s the perfect fit both academically and athletically.”
Beyond her talent on the court, Quinlan is deeply involved in basketball off the court as well. A passionate coach since high school, she has worked extensively with younger players and brings that same enthusiasm and mentorship mindset to the STU community.
Quinlan is also looking forward to learning from Tommies head coach Fred Connors, someone she’s come to admire from across the court during her time in the league.
"Character wise, I am not sure you can find a better person to add to the culture we have created here at STU". - said Fred Connors
“I’ve played against Fred and his teams for the past four years and have so much respect for him both as a coach and a person. His teams are always well-disciplined and prepared, and I’m really looking forward to getting to learn from him and continue growing as a player.”
Adding a special element to her final season, Quinlan will also be suiting up alongside her sister, Kathleen Quinlan.
“Throughout our university careers we’ve supported each other from opposite sides of the court, and now we finally get to share the court as teammates. Playing university basketball with your sister is a rare opportunity, and I’m so grateful to STU for making that possible for us.”
With her veteran presence, passion for the game, and deep basketball roots, Quinlan is set to make a meaningful impact in her final year—and the Tommies are excited to welcome her to the Green and Gold.
