STU Tommies Add Milton Defender to Men’s Soccer Program
FREDERICTON, N.B. — St. Thomas University Men’s Soccer is pleased to announce the transfer of defender Brian Awojobi from Milton, Ontario, who will join the Tommies ahead of the upcoming season.
A natural center back/fullback, the Milton native developed through St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School, as well as club programs including Burlington Force Academy and Portage Voyageurs. Known for his defensive awareness and consistency, he brings a strong foundation of competitive experience to the Tommies back line.
“I will bring an unwitting devotion and perseverance to produce the best results,” he said. “I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to help the team succeed.”
His decision to join St. Thomas University was shaped by both athletic and academic opportunities.
“STU has a very attractive and successful soccer program that would be an honor to be a part of,” he said. “The academic program also stood out to me, and my conversations with Coach Pinsent further solidified my decision.”
Off the pitch, he plans to pursue studies in Business and Social Entrepreneurship, with a focus on marketing. He also enjoys a wide range of extracurricular activities, including playing two musical instruments and creating content through filming and editing.
He spoke highly of the direction of the program under Head Coach Miles Pinsent. “Coach Pinsent has a clear vision of what he wants to elevate the program to, and that ambition is very exciting,” he said. “STU has a strong history and is already a strong program; with no doubt, it will continue to be even more successful in the future.”
We are excited to add a player with Brian's qualities to the STU program. His experience, physical attributes, and skill set will enable him to have an impact immediately. During our talks, I was very impressed with Brian's maturity and the goals he has for himself as well as the team. I look forward to working with Brian to accomplish these goals. - Miles Pinsent
The Tommies and head coach look forward to welcoming their newest recruit to Fredericton for next fall.
