Big Night for the Tommies: Nine Awards at ACAA Basketball Banquet
Fredericton, NB – The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Basketball Banquet was held Thursday evening, where several St. Thomas University Tommies were recognized with major awards following an outstanding season.
Ahead of the ACAA Basketball Championships this weekend, Mount Saint Vincent University hosted the annual banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of student-athletes, coaches, and contributors across the conference. The event recognized excellence in performance, leadership, and dedication both on and off the court.
The Tommies had a strong presence throughout the evening, capturing nine total awards, highlighting the success both programs have achieved this season.
Women’s Basketball
On the women’s side, Paige LeBlanc, Claudia Steeves, and Katie Vidito were each named to the ACAA Women’s Basketball Second Team All-Conference, recognizing their consistent contributions throughout the season.
The Tommies also took home some of the conference’s most prestigious honors. Fred Connors was named ACAA Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year, leading the Tommies through another successful campaign and one of their best records in recent years.
Capping off the night was a special family moment, as Charlee Connors, daughter of Coach Fred Connors, was named ACAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Connors was also selected to the First Team All-Conference and earned CCAA All-Canadian honours, recognizing her as one of the top players in the country. A special night for the Connors family
Men’s Basketball
On the men’s side, Jeven Eddy was named to the ACAA Men’s Basketball First Team All-Conference after an impressive season in his first year with the Tommies.
Teammate Marcus Wilson also received recognition, earning Second Team All-Conference honours. Like Eddy, this marks Wilson’s first season competing with the Tommies.
Another major honor went to Caleb Scholten, who received the Rod Shoveller Memorial Award, presented annually to a student-athlete who demonstrates outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to their team and community.
With several major awards secured, the Tommies now shift their focus to the ACAA Basketball Championships this weekend, where both programs will look to cap off their successful seasons with a conference title.
